In 1974 S&O Industries, an affiliate of Royal American Mills, Inc., began manufacturing heavy chenille at its European facility. This chenille was used in a variety of ways, especially for window treatments, window coverings, wall coverings and the trimming industries.
As chenille yarn became more popular in the fabric and sweater industries, S&O pivoted production from heavy chenille, to include an array of finer sizes and novelty fibers. By the mid-1980s, S&O had become a leading supplier of chenille yarns worldwide, manufacturing in fibers ranging from cotton, rayon, acrylic, polyester, nylon, wool and specialty filaments. In 1992 Royal American Mills, Inc. was founded as a domestic yarn producer, based in a former weaving facility, for customers who required specialty dyed yarns, shorter delivery times and smaller minimums. With continued replacements and updates to the chenille manufacturing and winding equipment, Royal American Mills, Inc. moved to its new and current location at 595 East 10th Ave, Hialeah, Florida in 1998, where the building was totally renovated for the production of chenille. Operating with the most up-to-date computerized equipment available, we produce with higher efficiency, and an even better controlled quality of chenille yarn. |
